Guidelines for Abstract Submission

We would like to inform you about the upcoming 10th National Pharmacy R&D Conference 2018 which welcomes abstracts for oral/poster presentation in the area of pharmacy. Pharmacists, healthcare professionals, students, academicians and professionals from the government and private sectors involved in research activities can submit the abstracts. 

The content of the submitted abstracts must comply with the theme of the conference. The suggested research areas for abstract submission are:

Impact of Pharmacy Services to Healthcare All research that looking into the impact of pharmacy services or intervention to improve the health care or patients’ outcome, etc.
Quality Use of Medicines All research in field of adherence to medicines, behavior in use of medicines including knowledge, attitude and practice, traditional & complimentary medicines, product registration and counterfeit medicines, halal medicines etc.
Clinical Research Research that conducted to optimize the drug therapy outcomes (pharmacotherapy) in patients. It includes the research in area of therapeutic comparative effectiveness, pharmacokinetics, pharmacy nutrition support, nuclear medicines, etc.
Pharmacoepidemiology & Drug Safety Research in drug utilization, the impact of medicines to population, adverse drug event or reaction, medication safety, etc.
Health Economics Research in health economics, pharmacoeconomics, cost-evaluation, health-technology assessment, econometrics, etc.
Health Informatics Research involving information technology including in pharmacoinformatics areas, the development of apps, etc.
Research Tools Any research conducted in development and validation of research tools in pharmacy area

Abstracts that has been presented or won in any local or international conferences or seminars are NOT ALLOWED to participate. However, reviewers may consider accepting abstracts that have been presented at state level.

All abstracts must be submitted electronically via the on-line submission portal on the conference website, by 15th FEBRUARY 2018.

All abstracts must be typed in single-spacing with both upper and lowercase letters (do not use all CAPITAL LETTERS). The word count (excluding Title, author details and key words) must not exceed 300 words.

Abstracts must follow the following format: Introduction, Objective/s, Methods, Results, Conclusion and Keywords. List not more than four keywords related to your research. Tables, graphs, and charts are NOT permitted

Title of the abstract must be in title case. The title should be specific to the content. Use short titles and standard abbreviations (expand at its first instance). The authors’ name/s and affiliated institution/s should be in the following style:

The name of the presenting author should be underlined.

All abstracts must be written in concise English. Please carefully check all text for errors before submitting into the system as the quality of your submission may strongly affect the outcome of the reviewers’ scoring of your abstract. NO edits are allowed for submitted abstracts.

All research abstracts involving directly/indirectly the Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel, OR conducted in MOH facility OR funded by MOH research grant are REQUIRED to be submitted to the National Medical Research Registry (NMRR) for approval prior to submission in concordance with the MOH policy on research.


Abstracts Review Process and Presentation

Selected abstract will be offered two presentation types; oral or poster. You may select your preferred presentation type (but reviewers’ decision is final). 

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by at least three reviewers and the reviewers’ decision is final. 

For all accepted abstracts, the required format for both oral presentation (PowerPoint presentation) and poster presentation (poster size, format, style and layout etc) will be communicated to presenting authors as appropriate. 

Only the corresponding authors will be notified of abstract acceptance or non-acceptance, and it is corresponding author’s responsibility to notify all other co-authors regarding the outcome of the reviewers’ decision. 

Notification of acceptance or non- acceptance will be sent in by 30th APRIL 2018


Abstract publication

All accepted abstracts will be published in the supplements of Malaysian Journal of Pharmacy. Presenting author whose abstracts are accepted for oral and/or poster presentation must register and pay for the conference by the registration deadline. If registration is not settled, the abstracts will be withdrawn from publication.
